@Kell: Ichinensei’s fifth volume doesn’t have a release date yet on Houbunsha’s website. So, this is only my speculation based on the release dates from the previous volumes. Except for the time between the first and second volume (8 months), the rest of the books take about 6 months between releases. So, it’s most likely going to be released around this December.

@Sirian: I currently have no idea what Morocco is a reference for (Archer thinks she might be mispronouncing Ioriko). Though, I might find out at some later point in time, like the story Iori used for the heart-shaped bruise on his butt was the same story used in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure for why the main character has his hair styled a certain way, and the kindergarten Yume was gawking at in chapter 23 of Ichinensei was the same kindergarten as the one in Masakazu Ooi’s really old serial, “Himawari Youchien Monogatari Aiko Desho!”, which I haven’t read until recently (This is also being scanlated in English, though they’re only done with like three volumes out of eight I think).

@tazmanian: Ah, thanks for the perma-seeded batch torrent.

@kay: You’re welcome. Ichinensei isn’t sold in my region either, which is why I have to import it. The shipping fees merely brings the total value to a little less than how much a localised manga generally costs in my country. I think both chapter 27 and its 27.5 version are both on mangahelpers, so you probably don’t need to e-mail me it. Thanks for the offer, though.

@Galen: I remember having to research Okusan when one of the editors commented about it in chapter 22 of Ichinensei. Anonymous is right about Ooi-sensei usually working on two to three serials simultaneously.

@Kenshin-the-Wanderer: Yeah, that’s an accurate translation of the Japanese Title. The one I was referring to was the Taiwan localisation’s title. Weirdly enough, the Korean localisation’s title is just a hangulisation of the Japanese one.

@dayrains: If Ichinensei ni Nacchattara is a prequel to Joou Ari, then Rin really took a 180 degree turn in personality between stories. n_n;

@Kay: I own a physical a copy of the 4th volume of Ichinensei ni Nacchattara, so I don’t know what you mean by special chapter. Is it the magazine RAWs for chapter 27 by any chance? I kind of want to wait until I receive my copy of the 5th volume so I can read it in high quality.

@Anonymous: I personally wouldn’t use horrible when describing a troll, unless the troll was a failure like if the troll backfired and led to the troller’s death, or if everyone ignored the troll. Neither in this case happened, so successful troll is successful. Though, the Taiwan title for Kodomo no Jikan is probably even more suggestive than the North American one. It translates as “Blossoming Young Girl’s Love Time” or something like that.

＠MKoR： I sent an e-mail to MangaScreener’s Izumi concerning Gestalt. Hopefully they will respond since Izumi hasn’t been active since late 2008. In the meantime, I’m going to be fixing the scripts for chapters 3-7 of Gestalt.

@Galen: Ah cool, thanks for the heads up on Koi Neko. It seems the mangaka, Mashima Etsuya, has been having problems trying to balance his profession as a mangaka and his Street Fighter 4 addiction.

@Kenshin-the-Wanderer: I’m going to be focusing on Koi Neko’s third volume until I go beserk and work on something else (i.e. Wadatsumi, Neko de Gomen, Neko Kissa). Though, I don’t have the tankoubon RAWs for the 4th-6th of Koi Neko volume yet. Hopefully they appear online or someone offers to scan them in a quality comparable to the first three volumes.

@dayrains: Ah, thanks for the clarification. You’re welcome.

@thecat: Hm, you’re right. Using “Go home” rather than “returning together” would make more sense in chapter 24 since they appear to be on their way home, though it wouldn’t make any sense in chapter 25 since the children appear to have more things to do in school after practicing for the athletic festival, so the use of returning in that case might be “let’s return (to the others)” or “let’s return (to class)”. It’s tricky, so I left it ambiguous.

Double-posting can’t be helped, since this blog doesn’t have an edit comment feature for guest commentators. It’s interesting to know that incest is taboo even in fictional works in the United States.

@Calc-Yolatuh: Ah, thanks for the reverse-trap example. Though, the increasing drama in Watashiya Kaworu’s serial in Comic High might just be a response to the other stories in Comic High being escalating drama fests. She already demonstrated how sexually depraved she can be with her characters in Seishun no Binta.

@Sirian: You’re welcome. I just read the second chapter of Gestalt again, and noticed that it ended on a cliffhanger. Well, let’s see if MangaScreener responds, it’s been over a year and a half since they last contacted me by e-mail. n_n;

Weirdly enough, I did a google search for Ichinensei ni Nacchattara, and came across this archived 4chan thread. I was able to read up to the part where Jennifer requested an off-line meeting before I fell out of my chair laughing, and closed it. Heh.

Which reminds me, I remember posting about Tamakoshi Hiroyuki considering the possibility of continuing Gacha Gacha again. Instead, he started up a new serial in Weekly Comic Bunch called “Makyou no Shanana” as an alternative way to draw Akira-chan again much like how he started up “Que Sera Sera” in order to draw Anju from Gacha Gacha again. I read the first volume of “Makyou no Shanana”, and the story is much different compared to all of Tamakoshi Sensei’s previous works in that it’s an action/adventure-type story set in South America with some seemingly heavy influences from the movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (Tamakoshi even drew some insane cultist pulling the still-beating heart out of someone’s chest). The story is split into arcs, with each one having Shanana befriended with a different partner and opposed by a different villain (though the first villain looked like a cross between Hatsushiba Akira and Taike-whatever-his-name-from-volume-10-of-Gacha Gacha, so it’s hard to take that villain seriously). In the Weekly Comic Bunch Blog, they took some pictures of Tamakoshi-Sensei and his work area which I found somewhat neat. The second volume of “Makyou no Shanana” is due on the 9th of October, so I’m kind of looking forward to that.

Speaking of Gacha Gacha, I think Del Ray is almost done with their North American localisation of Gacha Gacha Secret’s final volume.

@Phy: Neither do I. Though, I was surprised when “Kodomo no Jikan” was temporarily localised by Seven Seas. I forget what aspect of that manga forced them to drop it (was it the scene where Rin masturbates?). Though, I sometimes think its short-lived localisation was due to whatever troll decided to change the title to something horribly suggestive like “Nymphet” that caused just about every reputable bookstore to not want to stock it. Personally, “Kodomo no Jikan” didn’t bother me at all since I had all my sensibilities burned away by Watashiya Kaworu’s previous serial, “Seishun no Binta”, a tale of a boy with a flat-chest fetish who supposedly suffers from some syndrome called “Ejaculate Too-much Syndrome”, which means he’ll die and turn into a tiny dried-up cyst of blood at an early age like his father, and who defies his mother’s aide to put a damper on his masturbation habits by furiously masturbating and sexually harassing some naïve girl called Momo, who hasn’t grown one little bit since Elementary School, every single chance he gets.

@Axis: You’re welcome. I’m somewhat unsure if it’s wise for me to finish all of the 4th volume’s chapters in one sitting like this, since it’ll pretty much intensify the waiting period before the 5th volume is released (I’m thinking it’ll come out this December or January, though it might be earlier).

@Sirian: After I did Gestalt’s second chapter, I was contacted by MangaScreener (They did the first chapter a long, long time ago), who were trying to revive some of their long dead projects and they offered to do a joint with me. Though, the editor Izumi wasn’t impressed with the scans that were available online, so he ordered the books so that someone could scan them for him. Unfortunately, it seems the scanner disappeared or something. Fortunately, I did scripts (that probably need to be proofread again) for all of the Soushi and Takara arcs (The Takara arc ends somewhere in the second volume). Since I’m pretty much done translating Bakuretsu Tenshi for Dynasty Scans, I guess I could pester Izumi about Gestalt. =\

Two more chapters left before I’m done with this volume. I’ll probably focus on Koi Neko’s third volume after finishing the 4th volume of Ichinensei—unless the scans for the rest of Greed Packet Unlimited appear online.

2) Unfortunately, I do not have the .psd files for the first volume of Ichinensei ni Nacchattara on hand at the moment (I need to check to see if it’s either burned on a CD or on an external hard-drive). I do have the .psd files for the second and third volume, though. If you already made progress on the first volume, let me know so I can omit the pages for those .psd files to save time and bandwidth if I manage to find the .psd files for the first volume.

I’ll be scanning through my external hard-drive in a couple hours.

@Tsu: You’re welcome. Speaking of cats, there are two manga serials with a large number of nekomimi characters in them called “Asobi ni Iku yo” and “Chokotto Hime” that I’m following. “Asobi ni Iku yo” is a science fiction based on a popular light novel serial about earth making first contact with a nekomimi alien race and “Chokotto Hime” is a yonkoma pet manga with a gimmick where the animals look like nekomimi/inumimi from their perspective (the author is also doing another manga called “Nakimushi Step” with the same gimmick, though that’s more of a love drama about a girl who sees the world as a very frightening and sinister place). I think Asobi ni Iku yo is also getting an anime adaption later this year or the next year (hopefully they don’t mess up the character design as much as they did for its PS2 game adaption).

@Anonymous: It’s trivia in the same vein like when one of the characters from Ooi’s other serial “Joou Ari” made a cameo appearance as a doll in the chapter where Iori caught a cold. I currently have no plans to translate “Okusan” since I haven’t read it yet.

@Anonymous: You’re probably right about Yume having an invention up her sleeve to deal with the local authorities, unless they send a woman with an over-developed bust (Yume’s kryptonite)—or perhaps a loli to apprehend her like this:
