New: Kasumi Otoko no Ko by Suihei Kiki

Kasumi Otoko no Ko

A short story that I wanted to do for a long time. It’s Suihei Kiki’s second story after his debut in 2003 that was compiled among Suihei’s other short stories in a compilation called “Mika ni Harassment” in 2005. This story is a little more tame than Suihei’s future works that tend to be as obscene as possible without actually crossing the line. Though, I wouldn’t label any of Suihei’s stories as fanservice trash since the stories have a small amount of intellectual merit in subtly drawing the reader’s attention to issues such as sexism, classism, and ageism.

@Nikkou: I tend to not pay attention to the English localisation scene. I do try to check to see if a series is localised in English before I do a chapter for it (the last time I checked for Gestalt was back in 2007 before I did the second chapter). It’s rather liberating that Gestalt did get licensed by Viz Media, since that will let me focus more of my mind on other projects that probably have less of a chance of ever being localised.

As for Mahou Shounen Majoryan, stix’s profile on mangahelpers lists Mahou Shounen Majoryan as one of the series stix translated. Maybe you could ask stix about it:

Personally, I prefer doing a series from the beginning. Though, speaking of genderbending mahou shoujo manga like Catling. I read a story called “Saikyou Mahou Shoujo Akira” earlier this year. The manga is like a cross between Catling and Ichinensei with an ending even more cynical than “Seijou Kouchakan no Jijou”. Unfortunately, I don’t have the complete RAWs for it.

@Min: Yes, that’s the way it has been since I started Ichinensei ni Nacchattara. Hopefully, the fifth book comes out this December, so we don’t have to wait too long.

@Calc-Yolatuh: Agreed. The most traumatising thing in Seishun no Binta for me was Binta’s teacher. Her sexual appetite knows no bounds (the students describe her vagina as a black hole).

  1. I remember seeing RAWs for what looked like an interesting manga a while back on the #Fictionmania boards; Night Wizard Variable Witch. That might be a nice series to translate.
If someone could find the Japanese RAWs, I’d really like to see Yuzuriha no Toki translated.

  2. Awww, that was a cute ending. The goddess could have given her a ranma-like condition to facilitate a relationship with the other girl and yet let her hold onto her personal identity as a going away present/apology for giving her such a frightful day, that would have been a little cuter. Or done it to BOTH of them. I did think she was going to turn the first one back and turn the OTHER girl into a boy for a while there. Yet another gender bender. Don’t see a lot of girls becoming boys, it’s usually the other way around.

  3. Even though it’s not an interest of mine, it’s still nice to see another non-hentai manga where a girl becomes a boy. Well, there’s too much hentai in this genre, either way, but still. It was a cute and entertaining read.

I don’t see a way to contact Stix… Maybe if I got an account at mangahelpers. I dunno. I suppose all I can do is try.

If Saikyou Mahou Shoujo Akira is like a cross between Catling and Ichinensei, I’d definitely be interested. I hope some RAWs make themselves available, and that someone (you, possibly?) translates it. For me: sex-change + magical girl = epic win. :D
