New: Wadatsumi v1 ch05
One more chapter before I’m done with the first volume for this series.
I thought about Greed Packet’s colour pages, and decided to take snap shots for the monochrome pages to give an idea what pages would be in colour from the Dengeki Maou magazines. Considering the costs of importing all of the magazines, I think it would be prudent to spend money on the ones that are the most worthwhile to have in colour. While it would be nice to have high resolution scans of chapter one’s colour pages, it’s probably not worth spending at least 960+340 JPY for it. So, if the contents for a specific chapter looks like it would be interesting in colour, please say! n_n
Also, I’m going to need to purchase a good scanner. I bought a cheap, used one for practice, but found out it wasn’t compatible with my OS (Windows Vista), so I had to take it back. Most of the manga scanning guides recommend older scanner models, so I’m unsure what I should purchase. Does anyone have any recommendations? n_n;
Ch20

Sorry for the longcat post, but I’m fairly serious about scanlating Greed Packet, so opinions are going to be important.
Current Status:
Ichinensei ch31: 5/24
Koi Neko ch32: 6/24
Neko de Gomen ch10: 28/38
Neko Kissa ch12: 2/8
——————————————————–
@Sandor: You’re welcome. Chapter 10 of Neko de Gomen should be finished in the coming week.
@thejakeman: I don’t have an account for that social networking site, but I’ll try to look you up.
@n124: I’ll do the last one-shot, Mahou Shoujo Rukana, at some later point like I did with the Mai-Otome Super-H chapters after I finished Mai-Otome Arashi. There’s also two web comic stories for Mika ni Harassment that I’ll probably do later as well.
@neir: You’re welcome. Chapter 32 and beyond introduce one of the longest, most interesting story arcs in Koi Neko. Hopefully KamenWriter will find time to scan them. I have a feeling scanning manga is a lot of work.
@Conan O’Brien: Thank you for re-editing God Bless You by Yurikawa. For those interested (this is an adult manga), you can read three other stories by Yurikawa here. I’ll edit the project page for this one-shot to reflect this later.
@Pocky: I’m expecting the 6th volume of Ichinensei around June or July, so my slow release rate is partly due to that.

Chapter 6 and 12 look the most interesting for color. However the double page in chapter 13 looks like it could be good as well. But I am one of those people that can ‘live without’ color pages. :)
Glad to see this is being worked on!

On another note, I wonder how the auther managed to get away with using those names (Sony, Casio, Nokia, etc).
That may be as interesting as the manga itself.

My understanding is that copyright laws work quite a bit differently in Japan than they do in the US. For example, people can create doujinshis (often pr0n) of popular mangas and legally sell them. You can’t do that in America as it would infringe on Intellectual Property rights. I’m guessing things like “fair use” clauses are far more broad in Japanese law.

Taruby! You need to get this scanner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838110026) if you are slicing pages from a booklet. The CCD Image senor and the DPI is exceptional. Let me know if this works for you. Drivers are available for Windows 7 and Vista.

It’s sad, that model is probably the ‘cheapest’ of the good ones as well. Not to say it isn’t good (saying it’s the least expensive).

If you plan to pick up a scanner that is good and yet cheap you only really have one brand of scanners to go for thats CANON LIDE series. Pretty much all of them are really good.
Only bad thing about the LIDE scanner is that they last about 2000-3000 scans then they start to deteriorate.
Keep in mind that for scanning Manga in general to high DPI won’t have to much effect so that isn’t exactly the point you should look for. The MOST important factor is to get a scanner who do not produce shitty Moire pattern on gray scale images, Canon LIDE series does not.
However most important however after scanning is the editing process after. For one never resize in photoshop is an general good rule ( as long as you don’t have CS3-4 who finally come with resize filters ) Photoshop is good on color in general before that point but not grayscale as you pretty much always end up with moire patterns.
Cannot exactly say where I’m comming from but comming from an doujinshi scanning circle :P we got over 1500 releases so far, and most of the scans been made of LIDE scanners all the back from ver 20 of it. Latest is 200.

( bit Jpeg compression here sadly due the fact that almost all image hosts out there decide to compress it harder >< )

Hey Baka sign up at my.opera.com; 2GB free storage for files and photos. Upload speeds are a little slow, but one of the staffers has told me it will improve with the next round of hardware replacements.
I am user “Cutting Spoon”, my.opera.com/hellspork/about/ (though I barely use the service myself)

Uh-oh. You can tell that Taruby’s been offline too long–the spambots are starting to sneak in.
Taruby needs to get someone in Japan to get some Guripake goodies for him:
